Both Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones have their upcoming fight scheduled in the UFC. The middleweight champion Adesanya will defend his title against Yoel Romero and Jones will defend his title against Dominick Reyes.
Jones is fighting this weekend at UFC 247 and Israel Adesanya will fight exactly a month from now at UFC 248.
Despite both fighters being in different weight class, they have traded words about each other for a while now. While Israel Adesanya has repeatedly called out Jon Jones, the light heavyweight champion hasn’t shown interest in fighting him.
Adesanya made an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, where he revealed that he isn’t afraid of Jon Jones.
“As it always is, my nuts will follow next,” Adesanya replied when Eisen said that his name is always on Jones’ mouth.
“I am not a man of fear, nothing really scares me,” Adesanya replied. “For me to say he is scared would be preposterous, look at what we do for a living. I don’t get scared, nothing scares me
“He [Jones] can seat there and believe what he wants to believe to make himself feel comfortable. Look at what I have done in the last two years. Look at his first two years in the company, it’s a big difference,” Adesanya said.
Jones is using Adesanya’s name to stay relevant?
Earlier this week, Israel Adesanya told ESPN in an interview that the only reason Jones keeps bringing his name up to stay relevant. According to Adesanya, Jones’s legacy is tainted because of the stuff that he has done outside the Octagon.
“I don’t need him. Actually, I’ll say he needs me if he wants to stay relevant,” Adesanya said. “Because he’s already done a lot in his legacy which is tainted by other things he’s done outside the ring but, for right now to stay relevant, to stay current, he needs me.
“He can keep trying, but he’s got someone else to worry about right now this weekend with Dominick Reyes, so he better focus on that rather than focusing on me.”
