Israel Adesanya is scheduled to defend his UFC middleweight title against Yoel Romero at UFC 248. The fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, despite that, he is already thinking about potential future opponents. The most prominent name in the middleweight division being Darren Till.
Israel Adesanya in an interview with submission radio revealed that he is interested in fighting Till in London in a stadium. He also revealed that it’s a great stylistic match-up.
“We are cool, I like Darren. We already know we are going to fight one day, we will do it for the culture of fighting. That is a stylistic matchup that can’t be missed, not in this era,” Israel Adesanya said on Submission Radio. “It’s not going to get away from me. I like him, he’s a good kid. I think we get along very well.”
Darren Till dreamed of fighting Israel Adesanya at Anfield
Till is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244. Israel Adesanya was present cageside at UFC 244 and was eyeing Till as he made his way to the cage.
Following his victory at UFC 244, he made an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. He then revealed that he dreamed about fighting the UFC middleweight champion in his hometown of Liverpool.
“Yeah that cheeky bas**rd,” Till told Ariel Helwani when asked about Israel Adesanya eyeing him down. “Yes, it’s gotta happen….Israel is unbeaten, so there ain’t no blueprint to beat him. Me and Israel need to fight…I need to provide this blueprint and it’s not about the belt, it’s about destiny.
“He knows, he will come to the studio and tell ya that me and him need to fight at some point and you know, we will see…If I get out of these crutches first but we are meant to fight.” He said.
“I don’t know, I don’t want to rush things, I am on cloud nine from this last fight,” Till said when asked if he wants to fight Israel Adesanya next. “It’s not about rushing, now I wanna hone my skill set, I wanna get better, I have only been doing MMA 8 yeats, Ariel. I am getting better. It’s not about getting the belt, it’s about being a true martial artist,” Till concluded.
