UFC News: Johnny Walker ‘happy’ despite losing to Nikita Krylov at UFC Brasilia

Things aren’t going well for Johnny Walker, who was once a highly touted light heavyweight prospect. Last weekend at UFC Brasilia, he lost to Nikita Krylov via unanimous decision.

It was the second straight defeat for the Brasilian star. Walker was on a tear since making his UFC debut as he easily went through his first three opponents inside the Octagon. He defeated Khalil Rountree, Justin Ledet, and Misha Cirkunov via TKO in the first round.

However, he suffered his first loss inside the Octagon to Corey Anderson. He was brutally knocked out in the first round and then outwrestled by the Ukrainian for three rounds.

Despite this loss, Johnny Walker revealed that he isn’t upset. In fact, he told reporters following his loss that he is happy that the fight went three rounds.

I’m happy – I fought three rounds,” Walked said after the fight. “It was good for me. Fighting three rounds in the biggest promotion in the world, at UFC level, was great for me. That helped me evolve as an athlete and see where I need to work on.”

Johnny Walker is confident in Firas Zahabi

Following his first-round TKO loss in November last year, Walker switched training camps. Walker joined Firas Zahabi’s Tri-Star gym in Montreal, Canada.

He revealed that he will be going back to Canada next month for a full training camp. He also said that he is still young in the sport and has a lot to learn.

Firas has a lot to teach me; I have a lot to learn and evolve with him,” Walker said. “I’ll get back there, train and come back much stronger.

I’m 27 and got in the UFC a little over a year ago, so it’s just the beginning for me. It’s all experience. It’s all very new for me. I have a lot to learn. I still know nothing. (This fight) taught me a lot, so I’m happy. I gave my best, fought hard, gained experience and will come back stronger next time.” (H/T – MMA Fighting)
