After an eight week hiatus, the MMA fans are finally going to get some action this weekend from Jacksonville, Florida. The highly anticipated UFC 249 will take place at the VyStar memorial arena and will be headlined by Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje.

An interim UFC lightweight title is on the line for this fight. The winner of this fight is going to get a title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Initially, the fight was supposed to take place on April 18 in New York City, but the Coronavirus pandemic forced the fight to be cancelled.

Later, Khabib announced that he was also going to pull out of the fight as he was stuck in Russia. This led the UFC to search for alternate back-up for Tony Ferguson and at this moment Justin Gaethje stepped up. UFC had a venue locked in at a tribal land in California but the promotion had to cancel the event on that date because of political pressure.

However, with Florida deeming sports events as an essential business, UFC will be up and running from this weekend in Jacksonville. Ahead of the fight, Justin Gaethje is already predicting the manner in which he is going to beat Tony Ferguson.

Ferguson has previously stated that Justin Gaethje is one-dimensional, to which the latter takes no offense. Gaethje stated that Ferguson’s one-dimensional comments make him feel about himself because this style has helped him knockout 18 of his 21 opponents inside the cage.

Hell, it makes me feel good because that one dimension he’s talking about is putting people to sleep,” Gaethje told MMAonSiriusXM in a recent interview. “I can knock someone out in the fourth round, I haven’t been there, but I’m still throwing with the same intent, the same velocity, as I am in the first [round] in the fourth.”

Justin Gaethje: I will knockout Tony Ferguson in two rounds

Gaethje then went on to say that he was going to knock out former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson in two rounds.

He kind of shot himself in the foot because I do want it bad enough, and I will put him to sleep in the first two rounds. If I don’t put him to sleep in the first two rounds, or first three, preferably first two, then it’s going to be a battle of will and a battle of heart…we’ll see. I’ve trained my mind and body to be here in these circumstances and in those situations.”
