The former UFC interim lightweight title challenger Kevin The Motown Phenom Lee tapped out against Charles Oliviera in his recent fight. However, controversy erupted when Lee even after tapping out still continued to fight and attack the Brazilian fighter. This later led the UFC’s BMF champion Jorge Masvidal to go all out in his criticism of Lee.

It should be noted that Kevin Lee had also previously missed weight for this fight. The official weigh ins for the event were scheduled to take place yesterday and Lee came in heavy, weighing in at 158.5 pounds, thus missing weight by 2.5 pounds. While Lee was given an extra hour to lose the excess weight, but the decision was made against losing that extra weight later on citing health reasons.

It should be noted that the fight night event took place behind closed doors due to the worldwide looming threat of the Coronavirus pandemic. On Wednesday the Governor Ibaneis Rocha declared that there will be no public gatherings of any kind due to the ongoing current international health crisis. This had led to some speculation that the UFC might even cancel the event altogether. However, news media outlet Combate reported later on Thursday that the event will now be behind closed doors.

Masvidal first initially tweeted out that it was a ‘b*tch move’ from Lee to still continue to fight just a split second after tapping out to a submission. He even went as far as calling for the UFC to cut Lee from their roster. A while later, he again took to Twitter and also reminded everyone that Lee had unprofessionally missed weight previously. Here’s what he tweeted:

Lee’s behaviour post fight of trying to continue to fight has gotten mixed views from fans and pundits. While many feel he was absolutely wrong, others argue that he was in a state of shock and did not realise that the fight was already over.
