The fight between the former UFC interim lightweight title challenger Kevin The Motown Phenom Lee and Charles Oliveira and the rest of the UFC Fight Night 170, a.k.a. UFC Brasilia card will now be conducted behind closed doors due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. It means that no live audience will be present in the arena to spectate the fight card. Thus, the UFC will be taking a slight loss in terms of the revenue generated from the gate revenue for any fight card event.

UFC Fight Night 170, i.e. UFC on ESPN+ 28 is all set to take place tomorrow at the Ginasio Neilson Nelson in Brasilia, Brazil. On Wednesday the Governor Ibaneis Rocha declared that there will be no public gatherings of any kind due to the ongoing current international health crisis. This had led to some speculation that the UFC might even cancel the event altogether. However, news media outlet Combate reported later on Thursday that the event will now be behind closed doors.

Later on, the officials from the arena also released a statement saying that they will comply with the government’s orders. Here’s what the statement said:

Arena BSB informs that became aware of a decree from the Government of the Federal District that restricts public access to sporting and cultural events, and awaits specific positioning regarding the events scheduled for this Saturday: UFC and [a soccer match]. It also clarifies that it will follow all official regulations in order to collaborate with the maintenance of public health
