Undefeated rising UFC flyweight contender Maycee Barber will take on Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246. The fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
A win for Barber could catapult her in the rankings. Heading into this fight Barber is a massive betting favourite and rightfully so. Barber is currently undefeated in her MMA career. She’s had three fights in the UFC so far and has defeated all of them via TKO.
Roxanne is a crafty veteran and is highly experienced. She has a professional record 23-16. However, she is 37-years old and is coming off of a loss to Jennifer Maia at UFC on ESPN 4 in July.
Despite Roxanne’s experience inside the cage, Barber is the heavy favourite and in a recent interview revealed that she is the future and plans to finish the elder fighter.
Maycee Barber is the future
“She’s definitely a veteran in this sport, and I respect her so much for that,” Barber said.
“I mean, she’s got more fights than I have like years on this earth. So, yeah, I’m super excited and honoured to be able to fight her but also excited to show people that she’s the older era of mixed martial arts and of the UFC, and I’m the future.

“It’s like a fight that every era, every age of this sport can appreciate because you see the beginning, and you see someone who’s been in it for so long and has been around for so long. I think it’s exciting all the way around.”
“I’m not (feeling pressure). I’m just excited,” Barber said. “Again, this was one of the … I know that’s very stereotypical to say ‘this was the best camp of my life,’ but it really was. This is the best camp I’ve had, from coaches to training partners and just support. One of the best camps I’ve had in my entire life.”
Youngest UFC champion?
If Barber continues her winning streak, she would likely get a title shot soon enough. She is currently 21-years old and one of the youngest fighters in the roster. She will be looking forward to breaking Jon Jones’ record to become the youngest UFC champion.
“I think it’s a perfect fight,” Barber said. “She’s ranked, I’m ranked, and she’s ranked just a little bit ahead of me, so it’s a perfect challenge for me to go out and put her away and get another one.” (H/T- MMA Junkie)
