Michael Bisping has never backed down from a fight in his entire career. He was fought whoever, the UFC has put in front of him and on top of that, he has fought six-years of his career with just one-eye.

With just an eye he was able to knock out Luke Rockhold at UFC 199. Not only that he even fought legendary champion, Anderson Silva, also with just one eye. He lost his right eye back in 2013 when a brutal knockout head kick knocked Bisping out and also detaching his retina with it.

With a series of surgeries, he was able to get a fight in the UFC again, but the pain in his eyes continued and as a result, he had one more injury where the doctors completely removed his eyeballs. Despite doctors saying that he will never be able to fight again, Bisping defied all odds and not only did he make his Octagon return, but he also became the champion by knocking out the reigning champion.

Through such precarious fighting conditions, Michael Bisping took a lot of damage over the years. However, his only regret is taking the fight against Kelvin Gastelum. It was also the last fight of his career and in this fight, he was knocked out in the first round.

Anderson Silva failed a steroid test and Kelvin Gastelum needed another opponent,” Bisping said in a recent interview with Submission Radio. “I was over-trained for GSP, and I was like, screw it, whatever, it is what it is, I’ll fly out there, get another payday. So, I went out there. So, listen, money’s one thing and legacy is another. You can’t buy a legacy. So, I do regret doing that Kelvin Gastelum fight, because I had no business doing that.

I was over-trained. In fact, I didn’t train for that fight whatsoever. I was overtrained from the GSP one. Then I went on the piss for a couple of weeks, and then flew out to China with my mates, you know what I mean? He was training for the biggest fight of his life, I had already been choked out a couple of weeks ago. So, the conditions weren’t right. But there was a lot of money on the table, but I knew I was almost done. And for me, that’s why I got into this, I got into it to give my family a better life. And as I said, I won’t go into the actual number, but it was a big number, it was a huge number. And I’m like, alright, well I’ll go out and collect that, and I’ll fly out to China.” (H/T – MMAFighting.com)
