The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has put the world to a standstill. Sporting events around the world have either been cancelled or postponed their season.

Apart from cancellation of all sporting events, many renowned players have also tested positive for the Coronavirus. The list includes Kevin Durant, Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, etc. Now a UFC athlete has also joined the list. UFC welterweight Lyman Good becomes the first athlete to test positive for Coronavirus.

There have been 2.5 Million COVID-19 cases worldwide and around 170,000 people have lost their lives to this deadly pandemic. UFC has also had to cancel all its operations from March 21 to May 2. Dana White is planning to host the next UFC event on May 9 at UFC’s Apex facility in Las Vegas.

Lyman Good becomes first UFC fighter to test positive for Covid-19

Speaking on Ariel Helwani Show, UFC welterweight Lyman Good said that he tested positive along with his girlfriend. He also said that one of his coaches tested positive for the virus.

I knew something was up. I know my body. I’ve been through it all. I’ve been through a lot of injuries and a lot of other things. But this was different. As professional athletes, we’re always constantly pushing our bodies. For me, my body was like my point check to see how physically I feel and everything. And my body just wasn’t there at all,” Good said

My real concern was really just my teammates, my coaches and anyone I was exposed to. God forbid they get it, they spread it, and someone else gets sick really bad. I would feel responsible,” Good said. (H/T – ESPN.com)

While one of his coaches tested positive for the virus, none of his training partners were infected. Good was scheduled to fight Muhammad Belal at UFC 249. Earlier this month, MMAFighting reported that the reason behind him pulling out was an injury. He has since recovered now.

Good is coming off of a TKO win over Chance Rencountre at UFC 244 in New York last year. Prior to that, he lost to Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 144.
