Tony Ferguson claims he will fight only Khabib or Conor at UFC 249

The UFC had been for week desperately trying to make UFC 249 happen, particularly because the fans and the entire combat sports world alike were just begging to see this generation’s two most talented fighters who happen to be in the same division take on each other. However, just like it had happened four times before, the fight fell off as one of the fighters had to, unfortunately, pull out. With the UFC lightweight champion Khabib The Eagle Nurmagomedov pulling out it has left his opponent Tony Ferguson in a dilemma without an opponent. Ferguson has now issued an ultimatum of sorts that he will only fight either Nurmagomedov or Conor McGregor at UFC 249 and no one else.

In a recent interview given to sports media giants ESPN, Ferguson revealed that he felt Khabib had already decided to pull out long ago and that he won’t accept a fight other than the Russian or the former champ champ. Here’s what he had to say:

Khabib, I believe he knew already that he wasn’t going to fight. We scared him. He had the opportunity to come back from Abu Dhabi. He has the power to take a plane and come back. This is the second time we punked him out. I’ve been doing the exact same thing for 8 years. To and from work, going in there and busting my ass, making sure I’m taking care of business. Khabib’s a bitch. I told him I was gonna mop the fucking floor with his hat, the dude jammed out.
Nobody else deserves that ass whooping (other than) two people: that’s McNuggets and Team Tiramisu. That is Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

Conor McGregor has already issued a challenge to Ferguson

Conor McGregor through a series of recent tweets had called out both Ferguson and Nurmagomedov. He has even expressed his interest in fighting at UFC 249, “I am in shape to fight right now! At the beginning of all this, I said to myself – I’m happy I don’t have an official fight booked. If I did, I would have consumed all the incorrect data to support me taking part in the bout, and I would have followed through, competed. And won. The fact of this matter is, both Tony and Khabib where engaged in a game of chicken here towards the fight bell. With Khabib chickening out first. Making it 3-2 in pullouts in Tony’s favour. Khab scurried out of the U.S to home, and amid the crisis. Very high risk. Congrats Tony.”
