UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko is currently one of the best female fighters on the planet. The 32-year old is currently riding on a five-fight winning streak.

Shevchenko’s only MMA loss has come to the Amanda Nunes and Liz Carmouche and of which she has avenged the later. While Shevchenko signed with the UFC in 2015, she was already a highly skilled multisport fighter. She competed in Muay Thai, Kickboxing and vale tudo since she was in her early teenage years.

She was so highly skilled for her age that at 14-years old she fought a 25-year old fighter in Oman. Not only she fought an elder and more experienced fighter, but she also did so without a headgear.

14 years old me and my opponent of 25 years old,” Shevchenko wrote. “One of the first professional fights in my martial arts career! It took place in Oman. That time female fights in Muslim countries was kind of rare. They tried to force me to put on the helmet, but having my rebel character – I refused.”

Shevchenko later also shared a picture with her opponent on Twitter.

14 years old me , and my opponent of 25 years old. One of the first professional fights in my martial arts carrier !” Shevchenko tweeted.

Valentina Shevchenko is coming off of a crushing TKO win over Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 247 earlier this month. Prior to that, she defeated Liz Carmouche at UFC Fight Night 156. She was scheduled to fight Joanna Calderwood at UFC 251 in June, but so far the fight has been pushed back.

UFC 251 is scheduled to take place on June 6 at Perth, Australia. Calderwood said last month in an interview that the issue was at Shevchenko’s side and is not related to the Coronavirus outbreak.
