Dana White shared a video on his Twitter account on Monday and proposed to build a UFC performance institute in Africa. White shared a clip of a young boxer from Africa displaying his skills on the pads.

The young boxer displayed tremendously fast hands along with good hand and eye coordination. White was so impressed that he wants to build a UFC PI in Africa. Currently, UFC has two functioning UFC PI’s in Las Vegas and Shanghai.

The PI-based in Shanghai is the biggest in the world and will cater to the training needs of fighters in the Asia-Pacific region. A Performance Institute in Africa could be game-changing. The continent has huge untapped market potential and it is already producing high-quality fighters for the UFC.

UFC currently has two African born UFC champions. Last year at UFC 235, Kamaru Usman defeated Tyron Woodley to become the first-ever Nigerian born UFC champion.

Seven months later Israel Adesanya knocked out Robert Whittaker to become second Nigerian born UFC champion. Apart from that, there are other great fighters from Africa as well. UFC featherweight Sodiq Yousef is quickly rising through the ranks and becoming a force to be reckoned with in the UFC.

Cameroon born Francis Ngannou has been on a terrific three-fight winning streak in the UFC. He has previously fought for the title and is the hardest puncher in the division.

Ngannou agreed with Dana White as he took to twitter to state that Africa is the next home of combat sports. Apart from MMA, Africa has also produced current WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. He is currently one of the biggest stars in world boxing and holds the top PPV records in the UK.
