The highest-ranked UFC heavyweight contender, Francis Ngannou praised his native nation, Cameroon’s territorial neighbours Nigeria for their 2-0 victory over Iceland in the ongoing Football World Cup. Nigeria is set to meet Argentina in their next fixture and Ngannou has announced that he will be backing the team along with fellow American-Nigerian UFC welterweight Kamaru Usman.

Ngannou has, very much literally, shot up in the heavyweight rankings in a very short period of time. However, he was completely out-classed in his championship match up against Stipe Miocic. Ngannou is now set up for his next visit to the Octagon against Derrick Lewis at UFC 226.

Ngannou isn’t the only UFC superstar on whom the football fever has caught up. Several other stars have not fallen behind in showing their support for their country’s team at the football extravaganza.
