A fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor is yet to be booked. But that is not stopping the fans and fellow fighters from throwing in their two cents into the topic. The latest fighter to talk about the fight is Nick Diaz.

Nick Diaz thinks that Conor McGregor does not have the toolset to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov (PC: AKA Thailand)

Nick was in attendance for the Gennady Golovkin vs. Vanes Martirosyan showdown in California last day and he was quizzed about the McGregor – Nurmagomedov fight during this appearance.

The question was shot by boxing reporter Elie Seckbach and in his response, Nick noted that it is going to be a tough fight for McGregor.

“That’s going to be a tough fight for both people. There is a lot of pressure for one guy. Khabib’s supposed to win. Because a guy like Conor, it takes a long time to develop a formula to deal with someone like Georges St-Pierre or Khabib. There’s a certain formula you have to use. You can’t just lay on your back. You have to turn over and you have to know how to deal with stuff,” Diaz said. (via MMA Mania)

Interestingly, Nick has been in a similar situation to that of Conor McGregor thanks to his fight with Georges St. Pierre. Though it was a unanimous decision defeat for Nick, he showcased a solid gameplan that earned respect.

The return

The fans are still waiting for the UFC return of Nick Diaz as he is currently cleared to compete. Nick has not fought since his no-contest fight against Anderson Silva back in 2015. Prior to this, he had suffered back to back losses against Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit.

The 34-year-old is now 26-9 in his career and has been linked with a few fights including one with former Middleweight champion Michael Bisping. However, nothing has been confirmed as of now and it would be interesting to see what Nick settles for.
