Alonzo Menifield defeated Paul Craig via KO in Round 1

The main event opener bout saw light heavyweight Alonzo Menifield – a 2018 signee from the Contender Series go head-to-head with the much experienced Paul Craig. Alonzo won his DWCS fight via TKO in round 1 and continued that win streak tonight with his third TKO win coming in the first round. His opponent, Craig is known for making last minute come backs, but had a rough start handling Alonzo’s pressure and power. It looked like Alonzo was beginning to get tired and Craig able to read his movement as he landed a beautifully placed spinning heel kick on Alonzo’s head. Craig went for another one; but this time it was an ill attempt. Alonzo stepped to his left and blocked the kick, sending Craig straight down to the mat. Alonzo rained down hammer fists to secure his fourth straight first-round finish. Alonzo stays undefeated with a 9-0 record with eight of those coming by way of KO/TKO.

Drew Dober defeated Marco Polo Reyes via TKO in Round 1

Long time UFC lightweight Drew Dober who has seen the ebb and flow in his thirteen UFC fights scored another highlight reel knockout in the first round. Dober was on a three fight win streak until he was submitted by Dariush earlier this year, but he’s back on the win column with his impressive victory in under one minute. Polo got stunned in the opening seconds of the first round and could not recover as Dober continued to unleash a series of non-technical punches that ended the fight.

Vinc Pichel defeated Roosevelt Roberts via Unanimous Decision

Another light weight match up in the main event as the Roberts puts his undefeated streak on the line against Pichel who has seven UFC fights under his belt. Roberts builds up the momentum in the first round with his punches and knees. His take down in the first round gets him ahead in the scorecard, but Pichel ups the ante in the second round an gets Roberts in all sorts of trouble. Continuing his pace in the third, Pichel looks like he doesn’t want to lose this fight and is willing to give his all inside the octagon. Attempting an arm-triangle and then kimura in the final seconds, Pichel scores big and gets ahead in the judges books. Pichel hands Roberts his first professional loss and bounces back to the win column

Demian Maia defeated Anthony Rocco Martin via Unanimous Decision

Demian Maia picked up his 21st UFC victory with a dominating performance against Rocco Martin in this welterweight clash. Maia with his usual performance relied on his take downs and ground control. He managed to take Martin on the mat several times and displayed good defense in the stand up exchange. Martin was able to break away from Maia’s grip in the second round and evade the submission attempt from the veteran. Martin finally got back to his senses in the third round and put pressure that saw Maia retreat on the back foot, but it was not enough as Maia was well ahead in the scorecard. Maia had done enough to win the fight and continues to make a name for himself in his new found home – welterweight division.

Joseph Benavidez defeated Jussier Formiga via TKO in Round 2

In the co-main event, flyweights #2 ranked Benavidez and #1 ranked Formiga met once again after their 2013 clash which ended in Benavidez wining via first round TKO.  Joseph Benavidez wasted no time and went all out with his striking in the opening seconds of the first round. Formiga responded with his own moves and ended up giving a cut around the left eye of Benavidez. Formiga displayed high technical skills as he slammed his opponent in the second round but soon after getting back to his feet, Benavidez landed a solid head kick that got Formiga in trouble and he his the canvas after eating a barrage of punches. With this win, Benavidez picks up his third straight win and breaks Formiga’s four fight win streak.

Francis Ngannou defeated Junior dos Santos via TKO in Round 1

The main event clash between #2 ranked heavyweight Francis Ngannou and former champion Junior dos Santos ended in the first round. Ngannou opened the fight with a leg kick which JDS responded back with his own and causing Ngannou to buckle. As both men closed the distance, JDS missedhis shot and turned around and Ngannou landed a solid right hand that dropping JDS to the ground. Ngannou then rained down series of hard shots as JDS curled up protecting his head. The referee had to step in and stop the fight. With this win, Ngannou has now won three-straight fights, all by way of knockout.
