In the co-main event, flyweights #2 ranked Benavidez and #1 ranked Formiga met once again after their 2013 clash which ended in Benavidez wining via first round TKO. Joseph Benavidez wasted no time and went all out with his striking in the opening seconds of the first round. Formiga responded with his own moves and ended up giving a cut around the left eye of Benavidez. Formiga displayed high technical skills as he slammed his opponent in the second round but soon after getting back to his feet, Benavidez landed a solid head kick that got Formiga in trouble and he his the canvas after eating a barrage of punches. With this win, Benavidez picks up his third straight win and breaks Formiga’s four fight win streak.
