After a tough loss earlier this year, Hernandez returned to the octagon a different fighter seeking retribution against another UFC veteran Trinaldo. Looking to avenge his only UFC loss, Hernandez’s well executed game plan earned him a unanimous win. But the fight took a slow start as less than 20 combined strikes were thrown in the opening round. With this hometown support, Hernandez looked to up the ante but hesitancy played a big factor in making the round anything but exciting. The only significant strike Trinaldo landed was a spinning heel kick which cut open Hernandez under his left eye. With very few shots exchanged, the fight was very close to call but the last minute pressure from Hernandez saw him snatch away the victory from Trinaldo.
