The famed ‘one-armed bandit’ Nick Newell will finally get his chance at a UFC contract.

Nick Newell is a former XFC (Xtreme Fighting Championship) lightweight champion and No.1 contender at WSOF (World Series of Fighting). He has amassed an amazing record of 14-1, with his lone loss coming to UFC highlight machine and No.7 ranked Justin Gaethje.

One last step to UFC contract

It was revealed earlier in the day by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, that Nick Newell has been offered a spot on Dana White’s Tuesday night Contender series. Nick Newell, who grew up watching The Ultimate Fighter, will be finally getting his chance to show that he is ready for the big stage. One impressive performance on the show and he is likely to be extended a UFC fight contract by Dana White.

This was what he had to say to Ariel Helwani when interviewed.

“I want to thank Dana White, Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard for believing in me and giving me a shot,” Newell told Ariel.

“I still have to go out there and deliver. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

Nick Newell, who was born with a congenital amputation of his left arm, has long been in competition. He initially took up wrestling and had amassed over 300 wins through high school and college. He later turned his attention to MMA and has found astounding success, largely due to his ground game and incredible heart. Nick Newell’s manager Ali Abdel Aziz had this to say about him.

“I want to thank Dana White,”  Ali Abdel-Aziz said.

“He’s been making dreams come true for 20 years, and he just made one of Nick’s biggest dreams become true. I’m grateful. Stuff like this makes me humble.”

Newell is coming off 3 straight wins – the last one coming just last month against Sonny Luque in Rd1 via face crank.

Newell will finally get his chance at his lifelong dream and is likely to put on his best performance yet.
