UFC Ottawa’s ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone:  I believe I’m better everywhere than Al.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone made his return to the lightweight division with a bang earlier this year. After going on a career low of a three-fight losing streak back in  2017, the former Jackson-Wink MMA product managed to turn things around for himself by securing two big wins in Mike Perry and Alexander Hernandez. The multiple-time post-fight-bonus award winner made the move to lightweight in hopes of securing another shot at the UFC gold.

He’ll be facing former title-challenger, Al Iaquinta. “Raging Al” enters the fight with high momentum behind him given his win over Kevin Lee in his last fight. Iaquinta himself is looking to make case for the title. Before getting an unexpected title-shot Al was on a decorated 5-fight win streak, which included wins over Jorge Masvidal and Diego Sanchez. Ahead of this upcoming fight, Cowboy took some time-off and answered a few of our questions.

You have been on an impressive two-fight win streak. Where do you think a win against Iaquinta puts you in the title picture?

I’m on a title run, so the sooner I can get a shot the better.

How do you see your fight against Iaquinta going?

I believe I’m better everywhere than Al. He’s really tough and durable. He’ll stand in there and come at me. I don’t see him posing much of a problem. I’ll keep my distance and pick him apart.

UFC Fight Night 151 will be live and exclusive in India on  Sunday, 5th May 2019 at 5:30 am (IST) on SONY TEN 2 and SONY TEN 2 HD channels.
