UFC lightweight Paul Felder was left with no opponent as his opponent James Vick was made as a replacement for an injured Al Iaquinta in the headliner of UFC Lincoln.

An opportunity showed itself as Hawaiian Yancy Medeiros pulled out of his UFC 226 fight against Mike Perry and Felder gave no second thought of chipping in.

Perry is known for promoting his fights with trash talk and this time against Felder, it’s no different. Perry attempted to get into Felder’s head by saying whether he was ready to become a full-time commentator. Felder however brushed off Perry’s claims reminding him of the fighters who have previously held the microphone.

“I think it’s more intimidating when a guy just stares you down and doesn’t say anything,” Felder told MMAjunkie. “I knew he was going to say something. It’s easy to do, man.”

“There’s a reason we’re doing what we’re doing, and a reason we get picked to talk about these fights and be center stage for the UFC,” Felder said. “It’s not because I just talk good. It’s because I get in there, and I throw down and fight good, as well.”

Felder who lost two family members to cancer in a span of just a year vows to translate that frustration into performance at UFC 226.

“I’m taking all that and putting it on Mike Perry’s face,” Felder said. “It couldn’t be a better guy for me to get back in that octagon than a (expletive) clown like him.”
