Despite improving his UFC record to 4-0 with an impressive performance against Uriah Hall at UFC 226, Paulo Costa is still being scrutinised for his jacked up frame.
This time the jibe has come from surfing legend Kelly Slater, who took his time out to comment on a picture of Costa posted by UFC’s official Instagram, and wrote
”Didn’t Cung Le get caught because he looked suspect in a photo after a fight? Costa makes Yoel’s physique look almost attainable. If this guy ain’t juiced they shouldn’t bother testing at all.”
However the legendary surfer’s remark seem irrelevant given the fact that Costa has been tested 19 times by USADA since joining the UFC in early 2017 and has never been popped for any illegal substance.
Nonetheless the comment didn’t sit very well with Costa who told MMA Fighting : “Kelly Slater talked too much, said stupid things. He doesn’t understand how the anti-doping system works in the UFC, he doesn’t know how USADA works, doesn’t understand the USADA policy of testing any fighter at any moment anywhere in the world, blood and urine.”
Despite the fact that Costa has had to listen to such rants for the most part of his 12 fight long career, he does seem to be worried about it as he feels it diminishes all his hard work and dedication.
