UFC 230 is a paradise for fans of middleweight division with as many as four high profile, pivotal match ups booked as of now. One of them being a matchup of powerhouses as #8 ranked undefeated prospect Paulo Costa (12-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) takes on former middleweight title challenger #1 ranked Yoel ‘Soldier of God’ Romero (13-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC).

Costa eventually called out former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, however UFC booked Weidman for a rematch against another former champ Luke Rockhold which shocked Costa.

“I was surprised, because the UFC put Chris Weidman to fight against Luke Rockhold and (gave) me the best of the division – the No. 1,” Costa said to reporters at a Dana White’s Contender Series: Brazil taping in Las Vegas.

A victory over Romero will certainly make Costa’s case for the title inevitable. Costa believes champ Whittaker would be a regular fight for him.

“He’s a regular fight, for me,” Costa said. “He’s not so good in the standup, or wrestling, or jiu-jitsu. He’s a regular fight, you know?”
