The Interim Welterweight championship fight between Rafael Dos Anjos and Colby Covington has been moved to UFC 225. The fight was initially booked for UFC 224 in Rio De Janeiro but apparently, UFC decided to change the same.

The change is reportedly due to security concerns as the promotion does not want to replicate what happened in New York. Covington has huge heat in Brazil due to his history with the country and he reportedly even got death threats.

UFC apparently does not want to take another risk considering how the UFC 223 card fell through in the last couple of days.

The UFC 225 show is scheduled to take place at the United Centre in Chicago, Illinois and will be headlined by the Middleweight championship fight between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero. Former WWE champion CM Punk is also scheduled to make his return at the pay-per-view when he will fight Mike Jackson.

The Rivalry

Colby Covington will be heading into the fight on the back of his impressive win over Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 119. He is currently on a five-fight winning streak and has a professional record of 13-1 to showcase.

Rafael Dos Anjos, on the other hand, has been quite successful ever since he moved up to Welterweight. The former Lightweight champion has won all three of his Welterweight fights, in turn securing wins over Robbie Lawler, Neil Magny and Tarec Saffiedine.

While the fight will crown a new Interim champion, reigning Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is expected to make his return to the cage in the second half of 2018. Elsewhere, the Welterweight division will also have two major fights in the coming months.

Former contender Stephen Thompson will be fighting the undefeated Darren Till in the main event of UFC Liverpool while Kamaru Usman is scheduled to fight Santiago Ponzinibbio in UFC Chile.
