The Ultimate Fighting Championship, a.k.a UFC are the world’s premier fighting promotion. They are the biggest MMA organising company in the world. Needless to say, it is really very difficult to get signed to fight for the company. It is even more strenuous to be a ranked fighter in one of the UFC’s divisions, let alone being highly ranked. A detailed report about the UFC’s rankings was just released and was discussed about on the show, UFC Rankings Report. While there were a lot of talking points from the rankings, the biggest one was the high rated Brian Ortega climbing up to the number one rank in the featherweight rankings.

The high rated prospect faced top veteran and the former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar at UFC 222. “The Answer” had no answer for a uppercut from ‘hell’ delivered by Ortega. The young submission wizard, Ortega shocked the world by brutally knocking out the “iron chinned”, Edgar. It should be noted that Edgar was previously ranked number 1 in the UFC featherweight rankings.
UFC Rankings Report is a Youtube show whose episodes are uploaded on the UFC’s official Youtube channel, at the end of each month. The show is usually hosted by Megan Olivi who is a UFC anchor and the spouse of UFC flyweight top contender, Joseph Benavidez. The show also always features former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin, as a special expert to breakdown fights, results and the rankings.
UFC released the latest episode of UFC Rankings Report on March 9th. Olivi and Griffin released the latest official UFC rankings for featherweight and bantamweight. The major changes were Ortega leapfrogging Edgar to the number 1 spot and Jeremy Stephens leapfrogging Josh Emmett in the UFC bantamweight rankings.
