UFC Calgary proved to be a night for the redemption of two of the most dominant champs of their time. Before Jose Aldo returned to winning ways by a first round TKO of Jeremy Stephens, it was Joanna Jedrzejczyk who took away the unanimous decision victory beating Tecia Torres in a convincing fashion.
While Joanna never had her opponent in trouble, she mostly cruised her way through the fight. Jedrzejczyk got back in the win column after back-to-back title-fight losses to champ Rose Namajunas. Torres lost for the second straight time, giving her the first skid of her career.
The former straweight champ’s performance brought her praises from her country’s footballing prodigy Robert Lewandowski. The Polish star congratulated Jedrzejczyk classifying her as “simply the best”.

Already down 0-2 in her head-to-head series with current strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, perhaps the time has come for “Joanna Champion” to return to old haunts. Even though Jedrzejczyk has resisted the idea of moving back to 125 pounds, it may be her best path to a truly meaningful fight at this stage of her career.
