After Anderson Silva’s 7 year reign in the middleweight division ended, there was a lack of a dominating figure who could have asserted a rightful claim over one of the most loaded divisions of the organisation. However this draught came to an end with the arrival of Robert Whittaker on the scene.

Whittaker made his UFC debut at Welterweight in the finale of “The Ultimate Fighter : The Smashes”. After defeating Brad Scott to become the first winner of the series, Whittaker would go on to compile a mixed record of both wins and losses. However it was his loss over Stephen Thompson that propelled his move to middleweight.

And now after back to back victories over Yoel Romero, Robert Whittaker is well on his way to cement his legacy as one of the best to ever do it. However he feels that none of this would have been possible without the support of his father.

In a tweet, “The Reaper” credited his father for making him enter “The Ultimate Fighter”, the platform where his journey began.

Whittaker is currently nursing an injured right hand, but he hopes to come back soon.
