UFC Roundup: Who said what? (2/14/2018)

Rashad Evans – New MMA fans don’t know this. I was the original Tyron Woodley. If you want to be right, you can’t be happy. He can’t win a fight with the president of the UFC. Egos are at stake. You might want to expose the truth but it is all at your expense. I spent so many years arguing with Dana trying to fight Shogun and other guys but I wasted a lot of time. He will learn when he goes through what I went through. He should think about what he gains from his feud with Dana? Nothing. Pick your battles.

I don’t regret going down to 185. It did not work out but that’s life. I will go back to 205. I wanted to fight Bisping but that did not materialize. I still want to compete but I am in a weird space because I’m thinking about my legacy. I will follow my heart and see where my passion leads me.

Frankie Edgar – I was pissed when I heard that Max pulled out. But, I got over it. It has been too long since I fought last. Time is ticking so I want to get in there. When my manager called me, I said I want to stay on the card. Ortega was the guy talked about and it made the most sense because he is right below me. I take pride in that I win when people think that I’m not going to. I try to win fights. I don’t care about my opponent. Brian is game as he gets. He has a dangerous Jiu-jitsu game. Holloway is no joke on his back either so this was not much of a change in opponent.

Tyron Woodley – Someone asked me who I would fight next. I said that if I could bet the house, it would be Nate Diaz. I never said anything about fight agreements or anything like that. It was simply a suggestion. The thing is that Nate also said that fighting me makes the most sense for him. Nate got his status by fighting Conor. Conor got it by fighting Jose Aldo. GSP got it by fighting Matt Hughes. I am the only champion defending my belt against Number 1 contenders. I am one of the most professional and hard-working champions.

DC is moving up to heavyweight. Dillashaw is moving down. They are trying to make Cyborg vs Nunes. But, when I ask for a big fight, I am stepping the line apparently. When he said that I was full of sh*t, I took offense to it. It pissed me off. He could have said that I had wishful thinking. But, his statement was little bit harsh. He is not treating me like a champion. This is the UFC where everyone aspires to fight here. It’s funny how people that talk the most sh*t are being paid the most. All my nightmare matchups are behind me. RDA is not a nightmare matchup. I will destroy him. My price will be higher for RDA though.

Jon Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, speaking to Luke Thomas – By the end of this month, I think that we’ll get some clarity as to what is going on. We have got a hearing scheduled with the California State Athletic Commission. By the end of March, we will get this thing resolved. There is a 95% chance that Jon fights in 2018. If USADA is a respectable organization, which they are, and they consider all the evidence they have compiled, they know for a fact that Jon intentionally did not take any illegal substance and was not cheating. If he knew that he was going to be tested, why would he mess around and take something? It’s a trace amount of some substance he has never taken. 3 weeks later, he takes another test and is clean. Was it a supplement or did he eat something which contained the substance? USADA will find where it came from.

I watched Yoel’s last fight and I thought that age was catching up to him as he was gassing. But, after watching his last fight, this man has learned to fight. Now, I am scared for Whittaker. If this Yoel shows up against anyone in the middleweight division, he will starch them. He has the best wrestling in the UFC. He is the best athlete. He is what I like to call an EA Sports man-made character. If the Yoel that fought Luke shows up against Whittaker, we have a new champ.

Henry Cejudo speaking to Ariel Helwani – There are multiple reasons I called out Tim Elliot. There was always something about him. The first thing he called me was fake. I was surprised. You are not leaving the flyweight division without meeting the messenger. Either man up or apologize. I will meet Tim Elliott at flyweight, bantamweight or heavyweight if I have to.

Tim Elliott responds on Twitter – Henry, I am extremely sorry that I beat up your team on TF. I am sorry you are so sensitive and can’t take a joke. I am sorry that you are 5 feet 2 inches tall and have still missed weight several times. There is no benefit fighting a boring wrestler that can’t make weight.

Matt Serra – I was really concerned about the height disadvantage between Romero and Rockhold as his high kicks are lethal. Luke threw punches but nothing was significant enough to slow Romero down. Everything was being decided on the feet in the fight. Romero was more intelligent and exploded into blitzes on occasion while conserving his energy during other times in the fight.

Li Jingliang should have been disqualified. That choke was really tight. What if he bites his opponent next time?

Roy Jones Jr speaking to Bruce Buffer – Anderson copied a lot of my moves to fight in MMA. I have to rewrite my old moves to beat him. McGregor-Mayweather was a huge event, not a boxing match. Similarly, Anderson Silva vs Me could be one hell of an event. I am on UFC fight pass now. I am willing to come out of retirement to do this. Dana gave me his word that when Anderson’s suspension is up, he will organize the fight.

Derrick Lewis speaking to MMA Junkie – I am more concerned about stacking paper rather than fighting for the title. Francis was paid 500k to fight for the belt. Tell you what, give me 500k for the belt and I will gas out too. Guaranteed 500k, you don’t have to worry about me having a full camp.

Colby Covington – RDA and Tyquil are both easy matchups for me. RDA is a short little midget and I would knock him out. Tyquil has no cardio. He will break in the octagon. The whole world will see me expose him. He knows what is waiting for him. I will do to him what I did to him in the gym. This is my world.
