Copying Conor McGregor has become commonplace in MMA today.
Some fighters try to copy his brash, freewheeling trash talk. Some try to fight like him. And there have also been a number of instances of fighters copying his elaborate body art.
McGregor is known for the tattoos that adorn his body and fighters like Tom Lawlor have previously attempted to copy them.
Now, the latest fighter to try and channel his inner McGregor is none other than young UFC standout ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt, who posted a photoshopped picture of himself bearing McGregor’s body tattoos, captioned ’22 today.’
Generally, McGregor is known for his razor sharp wit and putdowns, that he dishes out liberally onto other fighters, but this time, he took the classier route by replying to Northcutt’s tweet with birthday wishes!
This is Sage’s original tweet:

And this is Conor McGregor’s reply:
Happy birthday kid. https://t.co/wlmpKE6SHT
— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) March 1, 2018
Sage Northcutt then thanked Conor McGregor for his wishes in typically polite Sage Northcutt fashion and also expressed his desire in seeing him fight again soon.
While McGregor has earned himself a reputation for being rough around the edges with people, other fighters specifically, it is nice to see a more human side of him once in a while.
McGregor is currently embroiled in negotiations with the UFC to fight in 2018, while Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson take to the Octagon to battle for the (Undisputed?) UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at UFC 223.
Sage Northcutt, meanwhile, is coming off a close victory over Thibault Gouti at UFC Fight Night Austin on February 18th.
