Former UFC middleweight fighter Sam “Smile’n” Alvey recently moved up a weight-class to the light heavyweight division. He won his second fight at light heavyweight against Gian Villante via split decision at UFC Fight Night 131. After his victory, during his post-fight interview, he had gone on to call out Corey ‘Overtime’ Anderson. However, he soon later realised that there has been a death in Anderson’s family. Thus, Alves went on to apologise to Anderson.

Sam Alvey apologised to Corey Anderson and sent prayers to his family.

After Alvey’s call-out, Anderson went on to reveal about the death of his uncle on Twitter. Here’s what he tweeted:

Later during the post-event press conference, Alvey respectfully issued the following apology to Anderson.

Hey, Corey Anderson, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt a family moment like that. Please take care of your family. My prayers go out to you and your family.

It’s June, right? Let’s get five more fights.
