It goes without saying both Diaz brothers have been longtime advocates of Marijuana. In fact last year, the United States Anti-Doping Agency made changes to its rules where a fighter can use Marijuana anytime he wants and it was largely because of Nate Diaz.
Diaz used CBD vape pen after his fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 202 when it was illegal to use it while in the competition until four hours after the fight. So basically, Nate Diaz was used as a catalyst for USADA changing its policy related to CBD.
Now, three years later, UFC has a new CBD sponsor. The biggest Mixed Martial Arts company in the world has signed a lucrative five-year deal with Aurora Cannabis. According to MMApayout.com, the deal is worth $15 Million over five years.
“Did you see that CBD deal I got for the UFC? They got a huge deal,” Diaz told ESPN. “You’re welcome motherf—ers!”
“That’s cool, but can I get my points?” Diaz said with a laugh. “Who brought CBD to the table? Now everybody has got these CBD sponsorships. Now it’s in football, in basketball, and it’s legal. UFC is paid out. Everybody is in the cannabis movement now cause of yo boy.
“I appreciate the love from the UFC, for showing who started this gangster shit.” (H/T – Bloody Elbow)
Nate Diaz is all set to fight Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 on August 17.
