UFC Flyweight contender Sergio Pettis will make his return to the UFC octagon after defeating top contender and multiple times title challenger Joseph Benavidez by split decision in June. After losing a high profile match against the current title challenger Henry Cejudo at UFC 218, the 24 year old made a triumphant return to the win column after a back and forth win over Benavidez at UFC 225. Pettis looks to continue the winning streak after facing Jussier Formiga in what is the first confirmed fight of UFC 229.
His opponent Jussier Formiga is on a two fight win streak after wins over Ben Nguyen and Ulka Sasaki. Formiga is ranked no. 5 in the UFC Flyweight rankings and was last defeated in March 2017 by Ray Borg via unanimous decision.
UFC 229 takes place at T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on 6th of October, 2018. It is rumoured that the much anticipated Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor fight will take place at this event.
