Tatiana Suarez secured a huge win at UFC Chile when she defeated Alexa Grasso. Suarez secured a first-round submission victory at the event and now, she is getting compared to UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Just like the case with Khabib, Suarez currently holds a perfect professional record and is 6-0 in her career. Although some fans still cannot digest the comparison, a portion of the MMA Community is pointing out certain similarities that Suarez and Khabib shares.
She was quizzed about the comparison on FS1 post-show and she reacted positively.
“I love that comparison because I’m a huge fan of his. I really base a lot of my wrist-riding and stuff off of him. I do a lot of that in practice. And actually, that’s what happened. I went for the wrist ride, and she turned her back to me, and I took her back off of it. So, yeah – thank you, Khabib, for that,” she said.
Prior to her win over Grasso, Suarez had defeated Viviane Pereira back at UFC Fight Night 120. She also has a first-round victory over Amanda Cooper on her resume.
Suarez was also successful in her amateur career where she did not taste any major defeats. As for Grasso, she dropped to 10-2 and suffered a huge setback. She was coming off a victory against Randa Markos and will now be looking to bounce back.
Living her dreams
She further went on to add that she is blessed to be in the octagon and added that she is living her dream by being in the UFC.
“I’m blessed to be here. I’m living my dreams out, and not many people say they can do that,” she added.
UFC Chile also saw Kamaru Usman pick up a win over Demian Maia.
