UFC fighter and the fiancé of Raquel Pennington, Tecia Torres revealed on Instagram that she and Raquel Pennington are happy with the team’s decision to push Pennington.
The corner footage of Pennington saying that she cannot continue fighting just ahead of the fifth round had gone viral after the pay-per-view and unfortunately, just minutes after the incident took place, Pennington was finished by Amanda Nunes. This, in turn, saw Nunes retain the Women’s Bantamweight championship while Pennington went straight into the middle of a controversy which divided the MMA Community into two.
One portion defended the team’s decision to push Pennington while another portion including the champion Amanda Nunes said that the team should’ve just thrown in the towel.
Now, Tecia Torres has come out with a statement on Instagram where she notes that Pennington agrees with whatever the team did at the pay-per-view.

#Forever I am extremely proud of my lady. You are a warrior babe. Fought every second you possibly could. You continue to amaze me daily. You motivate me to work hard and one day too receive the same opportunity to fight for a UFC championship. We are the 1%ers. Very few will ever know what we go thru as fighters and an even smaller percentage will ever earn the chance to fight on such a big stage and for a world title. #RideOrDie #AlwaysProud
PS: Both us and our coaches agree with the decision made to go into the 5th round. We know Raquel more than anyone else and know if we let her give up on herself going into the last round she would have always regretted it. She fought with heart and grit until the end.
PSS: Exactly one year ago today you asked me to marry you, I can’t freaking wait to wife you! 💍 @raquel_pennington
Pennington is now 9-6 in her career and was coming off a win against Miesha Tate ahead of her loss to Amanda Nunes.
