UFC: Tony Ferguson lists Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov among his favourite fighters

UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson may have a right go at Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov at every opportunity, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t like them.

Taking a few seconds out to answer a question about his five favourite fighters to Fox Pro Cast following his UFC 223 Media scrum, Ferguson probably surprised the MMA world when the first name out of his lips was Conor McGregor’s.

He then followed that up by also listing Khabib (or ‘Team Tiramisu’ as he called him), George St-Pierre, Anderson Silva and Brock Lesnar.

You can see the short clip below:

Tony Ferguson is currently riding a 10-fight win streak and is booked to go up against undefeated number one contender and Dagestani phenom Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223.

It is expected that the fight would be for the undisputed UFC Lightweight Title, and that the current Champion Conor McGregor will be stripped due to inactivity as soon as the fight is underway.

The fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson has been a long time coming, having already been booked and cancelled thrice in the past. Once each time because Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov both pulled out due to injury and the latest instance at UFC 209, due to complications Khabib suffered while trying to make weight.

If they do make it to the Octagon this time, it would be at only the fourth attempt of trying to make this fight. And in the lead up, the hostilities between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov took an up swing when the duo were constantly at each other’s throats during the UFC 223 Conference Call.

Which is what makes this admission by Tony Ferguson, that Khabib ranks among his favourite fighters, somewhat of a surprising one.

Who do you think will win this fight?
