Former welterweight king Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley wants his title back.

Woodley’s road to redemption however has been haulted by an injury which took him out from his first assignment as well. Last time Woodley fought was his fifth title defense against current champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 back in March.

That obviously did not went as planned as Woodley suffered a lopsided unanimous decision loss against Usman. To put it in a perspective, Usman landed 276 strikes more than Woodley which is a UFC record in a title fight. Woodley could only land 60 and was given a taste of his own medicine as Usman displayed a wrestling dominant performance.

That being said, speaking in a recent fan Q&A, Woodley reflected back at the Usman loss. Woodley, classy as always, gave Usman the credit he rightfully deserves however believes he (Woodley) just had an off day at the office.

“When you watch the Kamaru Usman fight, I don’t have to watch it. It was a silhouette of Tyron in the Octagon or something happened when I jumped up and stomped down, I think my spirit left my body,” Woodley said during a recent fan Q&A (via MMA Fighting). “I can give him credit for what he did. He stayed focused, he executed but we all know that wasn’t Tyron Woodley.

Woodley still believes he can beat Usman any day of the week. As of now, he would like to recuperate and get back on winning ways.
