UFC Heavyweight division was hungry for new talent. The ever so powerhouse of a division looked insanely steep. However UFC match makers have done a good job in grooming young talents and making then into championship caliber fighters like Francis Ngannou. Belonging in the same category are #3 ranked contender Alexander ‘Drago’ Volkov and #4 ranked Curtis ‘Razor’ Blaydes.
If ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has to be believed, then UFC are working on a showdown between these two talented young men for the much anticipated Moscow card in September. (via Twitter):
One of the potentially overshadowed results of UFC 225 was heavyweight Curtis Blaydes (@RazorBlaydes265) knocking out Alistair Overeem. Per Dana White, UFC is interested in doing Blades vs. Alexander Volkov on 9/15 in Moscow. Both are very highly ranked in division.

Alexander Volkov (30-6 MMA, 5-0 UFC) is on a tear. Volkov has an extremely decorated career for someone who just is just 29 years ago. Volkov was the former Bellator Heavyweight champion. In his last fight, he added another huge accomplishment on his resume by defeating former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum via KO in March. The victory further solidified his case for the title as he now serves as a Plan B for the superfight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 in case anybody pulls out.
Blaydes (10-1-0-1NC MMA, 5-1-0-1NC) on the other hand is no different. The 27-year old, is fresh of his stoppage victory against MMA legend Alistair Overeem at UFC 225 last weekend.
The bout between Volkov and Blaydes might as well be a virtual title eliminator.
