The UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker initially got his hands on UFC gold after defeating the middleweight division’s boogie man, Yoel “The Soldier of God” Romero. He then again defeated Romero in a close hard-fought victory in his first title defense. According to many he has already passed the litmus test and proven his mettle, though some still feel that he has to make a string of defenses against deserving contenders like Kelvin Gastelum. Whittaker has now revealed what he feels about the threat of Gastelum.
Whittaker stated that Gastelum is really tough and hits like a truck. However, the champion feels that he can do everything better than Gastelum. Here’s what he had to say:
He’s a tough athlete. He hits like a truck. He’s fast, he’s young, and he wants it. The thing is, though, personally, I think I’m just better at everything than he is. I look forward to going into this fight, putting my skill set against his and seeing how that comes out.
