UFC Middleweight Elias ‘The Spartan’ Theodorou has become a trendsetter of sorts, as the first UFC fighter to assume the role of ring boy for Invicta 28, on March 24th.

The event takes place in Salt Lake City and is headlined by Strawweight Champion Janaisa Morandin (10-1) and Virna Jandiroba (12-0).

Theodorou, who is coming off a victory against Daniel Kelly in November 2017, has been keeping pretty busy outside Octagon with a number of pursuits ranging from starting a Youtube channel, appearing in his own TV series to executive producing a movie that he stars in.

Opening up to Ariel Helwani in yesterday’s episode of MMA Hour, Theodorou had this to say about his latest venture in partnership with Invicta FC.

Mixed martial arts has been at the forefront of equality in many different ways. You can see in regards to women being on top of pay-per-views and selling millions and also now myself included as the first ring boy.”

Another important detail in this is the fact that he won’t be required to represent Reebok when he appears as a ring boy for Invicta, and will be partnering with a number of other sponsors that want to send out a positive message of gender equality.

I’ve talked to (Invicta FC president) Shannon (Knapp) and I will be allowed to put all my sponsors on my shorts and beyond that, all the local sponsors that I have like Fuel Foods, and HPN…And more importantly, I have really large brands that are going to be jumping in.

I’m the world ambassador for Mattel and I work with them promoting Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em robots and they also love the whole idea of the equality and the openness to actually put yourself in this position.

And I’m actually going to be partnering, if all goes well, with Barbie for ring boy and I will be ‘Man-Bun Ken’.
