The bantamweight main event at UFC Vegas 60 this 17th of September saw Cory Sandhagen earning a 4th round TKO over Song Yadong at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A former interim UFC Bantamweight title contender and 4th ranked in the division, Sandhagen headlined a stacked fight card against his Chinese opponent Song, ranked 10th.
From the start, the two fighters showed great technique but it was Sandhagen who slowly gained the upper hand in the fight. A brutal elbow from ‘The Sandman’ in the second round resulting in a nasty cut on Song’s eyebrow. Sandhagen continued the next two rounds with dominance and at the conclusion of the 4th round, earned a TKO victory via doctor’s stoppage.
“Song’s good, I hate that it ended that way, he deserved a fifth round. I won and I’m happy about it,” Sandhagen said after the win, “I wanted to rob him of his power. The intention wasn’t to get the takedown, it was to win the little minutes. That’s how you win in MMA, I’m trying to play the sport part of it, too.”
