Tai Tuivasa is hungry for a winning comeback- and would like to waste no time when he gets his hands on Marcin Tybura this weekend.

Tuivasa and Tybura are all set to lock horns for the main event of UFC Vegas 88- heading to the UFC Apex this Saturday, 16th March- a bout originally scheduled for UFC 298 but was later pushed back to headline UFC Vegas 88.

Tai Tuivasa ready for a five round showdown

One of the fan favourites in the UFC, “Bam Bam” is currently on a three fight losing skid. With a penchant to make a victorious return, the Aussie is little concerned that his next chance at redemption was shifted from a three to a five round main event clash- all that Tuivasa is focused on is getting the win, and getting it as quickly as possible.

“He gave me five rounds and my coaches didn’t let me down. And I know Marcin can fight those five rounds and he can fight them hard. Which is something we’ve been preparing from,” Tuivasa said at the media day. “I don’t like going the rounds, but I’ve never gassed out. My fitness is good, I feel good, but to be honest I want to get this party started, I want to get it over with. I’m coming out for head. That sounded a bit weird.”

“Look in my head I’d love every fight to be 10 seconds, but unfortunately my coaches don’t let me train for [a fight] that long. So, I’ve put in the work. I’ve had a few injuries along the way, I’ve had a few injuries I had to clean up. My team around me at the moment, I’ve got all the old heads up so they’re really giving me some great advice and I feel confident,” he added. [H/T Sherdog]

The quickest stoppage that Tuivasa ever recorded in his career dates back to March 2021 when he secured a 49-second knockout of Harry Hunsucker at UFC on ESPN: Brunson vs. Holland. His last victory, however, was a 2nd round KO of Derrick Lewis at UFC 271 in February 2022.

In his last three outings in the Octagon, Tai Tuivasa has suffered losses, all via stoppages. The Lewis victory was followed by a 3rd round knockout loss against Ciryl Gane at UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Tuivasa in September 2022.

Within three months, Tuivasa was back in action against Sergei Pavlovich at UFC on ESPN: Thompson vs. Holland in December 2022- another 1st round knockout loss, and in his last outing, Tuivasa tapped out in the second round against Alexander Volkov at UFC 293 in September last year.
