The rumored all-action fight between the two fastest rising featherweight starlets, Yair Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov is reportedly a ‘done deal’ according to LA Times Sports reporter, Lance Pugmire.

Lance Pugmire, earlier broke the news on twitter, citing his source as UFC president Dana White.

Yair Rodriguez (10-2) was on 6-fight tear as he entered the UFC, which includes high profile wins over Andre Fili and MMA legend BJ Penn. His run came to a halt, when he faced Frankie Edgar back in UFC 211. He was stopped in the 10th minute after brutal ground and pound from the veteran. Yair Rodriguez took time out to sort out his deficiency’s and is now looking to come back better than ever.

Zabit Magomedsharipov (15-1), the former ACB featherweight king pin, has had a similar start to his UFC career. He has notched up 3 wins in his first 3 UFC fights – he picked up fight night bonuses in all 3 fights. He is currently on a 11 fight win streak, and will be looking to move up the rankings after this fight.

This fight will now bolster the slowly building up fight card. The PPV is headlined by a title rematch between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt. Derek Brunson vs Antonio Carlos Junior is reportedly booked as well for the event.

Dana White also revealed yesterday that – Georges St. Pierre vs Nate Diaz at 155 was in the works. The fight is yet to be confirmed, but if booked, could be one of the biggest PPV’s of the year.

UFC 227 goes to floors on Aug 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
