Zabit Magomedsharipov impressed fans all over the world with his performance in the Fight of the Night against Kyle Bochniak at UFC 223. Zabit won by a dominant unanimous decision in what was supposed to be the first fight of the night but was shifted to the Pay per view main card after three of the fights were cancelled due a series of unfortunate events.
Zabit showed up for the post fight press conference with a bandaged right hand which according to him was broken in the first round.“In the first round, I hit my right hand really hard, and I believe it’s broken,” Magomedsharipov said. “I’m not sure right now, but the rest of the fight, I could not use it.”
Zabit broke his hand while warming up
According to Ariel Helwani, Zabit Magomedsharipov broke his hand while warming up with coach Mark Henry prior to the fight.
Just spoke to Zabit’s coach Mark Henry. He confirmed Zabit broke his left hand while warming up with him in the locker room before the fight. Zabit protected him by saying it happened in the first but Henry maintained it was during the warm up.

Zabit also revealed that he was suffering from a staph infection which makes his performance in the fight even more awe inspiring, but Zabit does not want that to take any credit away from Kyle Bochniak’s toughness.“Definitely, Kyle was a tough guy,” Madgomedsharipov said. “He did really well. I was surprised. I wasn’t expecting so much from him. He has a big heart.”
Most avoided fighter in the UFC?
Zabit has shown amazing striking, great footwork, a stellar ground game and inhuman toughness which combined with his newcomer status offers a very low impetus for fighters to accept a fight against him. According to him around 5 opponents have refused to fight him. I don’t remember all the names,” Magomedsharipov said. “The first one was Artem Lobov. Then, it was Yair Rodriguez. And there was Andre Fili.”
Magomedsharipov has called out Yair Rodrigues more than once, after his win against Sheymon Moraes at UFC China and after his win at UFC 223 but Yair has not yet accepted the fight which has intrigued the fans as of now.
“I hope he’ll accept it,” Magomedsharipov said. “But, to be honest with you, I don’t care exactly if it’s going to be Yair or any top-10 ranked fighter.”
Whoever Zabit fights next, the fans will be watching intently.
