UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg defended her belt for the second time against former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Yana Kunitskaya from Russia at UFC 222.
Cyborg stepped in on short notice to fill the void of the UFC 222 main event as Featherweight Champion Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway got injured and his fight against Frankie Edgar was off the charts.Cyborg went in as a massive -1600 favourite and she did proper justice to the odd makers as she finished Kunitskaya in the first round via TKO.
Cyborg took home the highest purse for the day with a flat $500,000.This ensured that would get $500,000 irrespective of the result. She also had the highest purse for the day in her last outing at UFC 219 on December 30,2017 against former women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm.
Cyborg also made $500,000 on that card.
The second highest paid fighter on the card was former Heavyweight Champion Andrei ‘The Pitbull’ Arlovski (27-15-1) who took home a flat $275,000 in his main event bout against Stefan ‘The Skyscraper’ Struve (28-10).
