Conor McGregor has again recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons. This time he was in the news because he went to jail, again, but this time for snatching and destroying a man’s smartphone. ESPN analyst and pundit Stephen A. Smith hasn’t certainly taken too kindly to this incident and he revealed that due to his behaviour McGregor is getting on his ‘nerves’.
Smith was recently speaking on ESPN’s show First Take. He said that he likes McGregor’s gift of the gab and his showmanship and that in the past he had always backed it up as well. However, in recent times McGregor hasn’t. He stated that it has been a really long time since McGregor was in the news for winning and he desperately needs to get back to winning ways:
Conor McGgregor is really getting on my damn nerves. I’m really getting sick and tired of him being in the news for something other than winning in the UFC octagon. It’s been years since we saw him winning a fight. We saw him in the news for throwing a dolly at the bus, we saw him in the news for this (phone-gate incident). We see him at press conferences. But when he had to step into the octagon against Nurmagomedov, and we all saw what happened there. We saw him in the ring trying to box against Floyd Mayweather, we saw what happened there.
The last time we saw Conor McGregor win, win! And I love him, I love his mouth, I love that he tries to back it up, I love that he is a showman. He is worth the money, he is worth the price of admission.
I’m trying to remind Conor McGregor what made you those millions. It wasn’t just your mouth, it wasn’t just your attitude, it was the fact that you backed it up. And the fact is that he is not backing it up these days.
