Undefeated atomweight athlete Victoria Souza is ready to prove why she belongs on the global stage of martial arts when she takes on 17-year-old sensation Victoria Lee at ONE: REVOLUTION this Friday, 24 September. Souza views the opportunity to compete in ONE Championship as a dream come true, recalling the first time she discovered ONE while at the gym.
Victoria Souza says ONE Championship is her dream organisation
“I was training one day, and they showed some live ONE Championship events on the TV sets at the gym. I watched, and it hooked me almost instantly,” the Brazilian star revealed.
“I love everything about ONE. I was a fan before I even joined. Everything is perfect. It was my dream to join this organization.”
Her hopes of competing in the world’s largest martial arts organization have come true, and she wants to ensure that this perfect opportunity does not go to waste against “The Prodigy.”
“Vick” also believes her talent and skills will stack up well against the teenage sensation that is Lee, be it on the canvas or in a strike fest. With two knockouts and submissions apiece, that seems very likely the case.
“I’m completely prepared for both her striking and her grappling,” the 24-year-old star said.
“I studied my opponent and adapted my game to face her, but without changing my style. I’m aggressive, and I try to fight all the time. I don’t like to leave the result to the judges. I fight to submit or knock my opponents out.”
Despite the confidence to secure a finish and maintain her perfect 5-0 slate, Souza knows she cannot underestimate “The Prodigy’s” well-balanced skill set.
Victoria Lee is gunning for a stoppage victory
The Double Attack representative has paid close attention to her foe’s two career victories, the first a rear-naked choke of Sunisa “Thunderstorm” Srisen and the other a triangle-armbar of “Little Sprouts” Wang Luping.
“I’ve seen her fights so far. I think Victoria had the perfect strategy to win her first two fights,” she said.
“She is a high-level athlete and very complete. But even so, I will impose my game. I don’t see many weaknesses [in her game], but I want to follow my team’s plan to win.”
Though Victoria Souza’s plan to win might not be as easy as it sounds, she is certain that she can put a stop to her opponent’s hot streak in emphatic fashion.
“My game plan is to finish the fight as soon as possible. But if that’s not possible, I want to score a lot so that there is no doubt [who the winner is] in the judges’ minds,” she said.
