On October 6 at KSW 45 in The SSE Arena, Wembley two of the best rising talents in the world of MMA will collide once more in an anticipated rematch as Dricus Du Plessis (12-1) defends his KSW welterweight title against Roberto Soldic (13-3).
At 24-years-old Dricus Du Plessis has already achieved so much in his young career. He rose to become South Africa’s number one ranked fighter and a two-weight EFC champion before signing with KSW and winning the welterweight title in his first fight. It was here he first met with Roberto Soldic in a KSW classic, a fight of two halves with a tremendous finish. After weathering the hard-hitting storm in the first round, Du Plessis rallied back, showing composure beyond his years, and landed the KO blow in the second round, his eight-straight finish.
Coming into that fight Soldic has a lot of momentum behind him. The German-based Croatian had won seven in a row, all stoppages, and at the young age of 22 he found himself as KSW welterweight champion after demolishing KSW great Borys Mankowski for the strap. His loss to Du Plessis was the first time someone managed to stop the ‘RoboCop’ but he now promises to come back for vengeance and to reclaim his thrown.
What happens in this contest is anyone’s guess but one thing is for sure – these two are the future of the welterweight division!
