Indian Boxing star Vijender Singh is set to return in action next month. He will be fighting after a layover of more than a year.
Indian boxing star Vijender Singh was last seen in action back in November when he fought Charles Adamu (33-14-0) of Ghana at Caesars Palace, Bluewaters DXB. In this fight, Singh knocked down the Ghanian three-times and defeated him via a unanimous decision.
Prior to that, the unbeaten Boxing sensation from Bhiwani was seen in action in July of 2019 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, when he took on Mike Snider and defeated him via TKO in the fourth round.
Vijender’s next fight will take place in India, but his promoter Neerav promoter stated that the date and venue will be revealed later.
“While the promoters finalise on the opponent, date, and venue, Vijender Singh will certainly be in action this March with an aim to extend his unbeaten streak 12-0 (8 Knockout wins) in professional boxing,” his promoters IOS Boxing Promotions said in a statement.
“A group of young and talented boxers will also go head-to-head as undercards for the fight.”
Vijender Singh confident of remaining undefeated
Vijender Singh who is so far undefeated inside the ring is confident that he will extend his unbeaten streak.
“I am really excited to return to the ring. I am pumped up and eager as ever to enter the ring again and have been training hard to keep myself fit for the bout. The opponent doesn’t really matter as I am focused to extend my unbeaten streak,” Vijender Singh said.
This will be Vijender’s fifth fight in India, following successes in New Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur. While the fight will take place in India, it’s unclear if the fight will have spectators.
IOS Promotions’ Neerav Tomar said, “The COVID-19 pandemic gave us ample time to invest our thoughts on doing something different this time and increasing the level of professional boxing in India.
“We hope all the fans watching or present at the venue will thoroughly enjoy the event.”
