A light heavyweight slugfest is headed to London as former light heavyweight title challenger and #5 ranked Volkan ‘No Time’ Oezdemir will look to halt the rise of undefeated and #8 ranked Dominick ‘The Devastator’ Reyes at UFC on ESPN+ 5 on March 16.
Stylistically, the bout is designed to not trouble the judges as a finish might definitely be served. Speaking of finishes, ‘No Time’ loves finishes and he loves them quick. This time however on a two-fight losing streak, Oezdemir (15-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has his back against the wall. Oezdemir felt short with back to back submission losses against former light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and #3 ranked Anthony Smith. Oezdemir would desperately like to get things back on winning ways.
Standing in his way though is an extremely difficult assignment in Dominick Reyes. Undefeated Reyes (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) is on a tear. Reyes has methodologically made his way up to the top of the division with four victories under the UFC banner. His last one being against a very dangerous veteran in Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 229 in October last year. Reyes, known for his well rounded game, has all the potential to become a champion.
With former light heavyweight champion Jon ‘Bones’ Jones recapturing his throne, a trilogy against arch rival Daniel Cormier or against #3 ranked Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith, is slated to be next for Jones. However the winner, takes a huge step forward in title contention.
