Alonzo Menifield (1-0 UFC, 7-0 MMA) put his skill on display and won his UFC debut match when he thrashed his Brazilian debuting fighter Vinicius Moreira (0-1 UFC, 9-2 MMA). He won the match with a first-round TKO. Alonzo Menifield showed his power from the beginning as he knocked down his opponent Moreira with a heavy punch.

Moreira tried to use his body to gain some good positions on the feet and in the clinch to have some momentum, but Menifield didn’t let him use this for long. Menifield showed his power and dropped him with a right hand and with some ground and pound the match finished in the first round.

Alonzo later in the post-fight interview said that Brazilians always do spinning moves and he anticipated that from his opponent but the spinning was slow.

Alonzo said, “I kind of didn’t follow the game plan for the first 10 seconds, but then I noticed he was doing weird spinning moves. So that left him open, and I went for the finish. He was spinning like ‘The Matrix,’ but it was slow spinning. He did it again, and that’s when I exploded on him.”
