UFC 242 is finally in the books now and it is safe to say that it turned out to be a rather exciting and enthralling event with plenty of entertaining fights. In the main event, the UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defended his title and unified both the lightweight belts by defeating the UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier. An emotional Poirier was later asked at the post-fight press conference. Poirier flat out refused the idea, while also taking a verbal shot at the former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington for ‘selling out’.
Poirier was asked by a reporter whether he might fight Masvidal next. The lightweight revealed that Jorge is a close friend of his and he wouldn’t sell out like Covington and trash talk his friends. Here’s what he had to say:
Jorge is a buddy of mine and I don’t sell out like f**king Colby Covington and talk bad about people who I roll with. No, Jorge is a buddy of mine. He is a training partner. He is a good guy if anything I’ll go out to Florida and help him prepare for that fight.
You can listen to Poirier’s interview down below:
💎@DustinPoirier has no time to be a "sellout" like @ColbyCovMMA and would absolutely not consider fighting teammate @GamebredFighter. #UFC242 pic.twitter.com/U2tSXoXPnk
